How To Sail The World Whilst Eating Tacos, Chips, and Cheesecake … And not gain 600lbs!

G’day From SLV!

[text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left” font_color=”%23ffffff”]Elay here! You may know me from our youtube channel “Sailing La Vagabonde”, where Riley and I have been documenting our voyage through the Mediterranean, across the Atlantic, the Caribbean, and soon to be Pacific.

We get asked all the time how we manage to stay in relatively good shape while living on a boat that doesn’t have much room to exercise.

Our “secret” might surprise you. In fact, if you saw how much we eat during the day you’d wonder how we’ve managed not to resemble two balloon-shaped figures waddling around the cockpit bumping into each other.[/text_block]

Staying Healthy Doesn’t Mean Staying Hungry

[text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left” font_color=”%23ffffff”]Whether you’re on a 22 foot catalina on a local lake or a 50 footer in the open ocean, there’s just not much room to run around and exercise —  and it’s EXTREMELY easy to spend all day/night snacking on whatever food’s available (which I’ve found the hard way is not always a good thing!).

Even if you plan to eat nothing but fried, baked, or roasted fish, it honestly gets tiring eating the same thing over and over … especially when you just want a piece of cake to keep yourself sane.

On our boat, La Vagabonde, we restrain ourselves from morphing into twelve hundred pound walruses by sticking to a  handful of trusted lunch, dinner, snack, and dessert recipes that are ridiculously satisfying yet healthy as can be.

So in response to our non-stop emails  asking us for the recipe’s we use … we’ve put our favourites together in one compact book for you.[/text_block]

If You’re Stuck on Land, We’ve Got You Covered

[text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left” font_color=”%23ffffff”]Even if your vessel consists of a canoe, twig, and shred of sail cloth, you’ll still find yourself rescued from all those greasy treats you’d normally bring to keep you and your mate going during a hard day’s sail.

If you don’t have a boat yet or are stuck on land for the moment, you’ll still find these recipe’s just as perfect for your house or apartment.  If you make these at home, you won’t have to deal with any food rolling around the table whilst looking stupid trying to keep it together.

That’s worth the admission right there![/text_block]

No Yacht Should Sail Without It

[text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left” font_color=”%23ffffff”]Whether you’re crossing the world or crossing the lake, you’ll be missing out on some of the best food to eat if you don’t have these treats on board.

And even if you’re not the sailing type yourself, treat a friend who is to these delicious culinary creations from La Vaga.

Our twenty-four page recipe book:[/text_block]

  • Conveniently stows in your boat’s galley
  • Fits neatly in your home kitchen drawer or cupboard
  • Makes a perfect gift for any sailing enthusiast
  • Is a great way to keep your shipmate(s) happy
[text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left” font_color=”%23ffffff”]We’ve included our favourite dishes such as:[/text_block]
  • Mouth-watering Thai Coconut Hummus (we eat it by the gallon)
  • Light and delicious Fish Tacos (Riley can eat 100 of these)
  • All-you-can-eat super-healthy pizza (I really want some right now)
  • and our 100% guilt-free cheesecake that we devour like absolute PIGS
  • (plus a a lot more)
[text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left” font_color=”%23ffffff”]Listen, the last thing you need is to be stuck on a banana-shaped chunk of fiberglass in the middle of a bunch of water.

My secret remedy is to keep everyone’s bellies full, because if they’re anything like Riley …  if he’s well fed, he’s a “happy chappy!”

And that means shorter shifts on nightwatch for me.[/text_block]

Maybe we’ll even see you at anchor

[text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left” font_color=”%23ffffff”]While I can’t make it personally to your galley, the least I can do is give you instructions.

I’ve even included illustrations I’ve drawn (I’m no artist but I did my best).

I’d have taken pictures of us cooking on the boat but due to currently being stuck home in Australia while working and saving enough to return to La Vaga after hurricane season, this the best we could do! We hope that by keeping the price on this as low and affordable as possible, you’ll be able to help us keep our sailing adventure extended this time ’round. .

One last thing … I promise that everything will go better with a glass of wine, a beautiful sunset, a soft breeze, and someone to enjoy it with.

Maybe that someone will be us, if you see us out there someday.
