What You Eat When You’re Running Out of Food Onboard (Sailing La Vagabonde) Ep 51

It hadn’t happened yet, in the whole 2 years we have been sailing around the world BUT we had finally ran La Vagabonde completely out of food (apart from a few odd things we found scattered around in some dark and very scary places). Unfortunately, we had missed the ship in Nuku Hiva to stock up before leaving to the Tuamotus, and of course the only supermarket on the island of Raroia hadn’t had a ship of supplies come for the past 3 weeks…. so the no food situation quickly became a problem. We managed to catch a few fish, but after 2 weeks of exploring this magical island, we had to set sail to the main island of the bunch – Fakarava, where we could hopefully get some fresh fruit and veg. (currently typing this whilst eating a can of mushy peas and carrots…. HELP ME!!). Made with love, Elayna.

  1. Well I’ll cook up a nice rib eye and lobster or maybe a nice grilled ahi and asparagus.
I’m sorry that’s mean. I’m sure you’ve found the food ship by now. Well no matter your situation it’s better than mine!

  5. Elayna and Riley (sp?), Lori and I have not ever found such an incredible couple other than us (at your age) on these sailing channels.

Love it all. We are currently working towards Lori getting a liver transplant so she will be well enough to return to sailing next year. Perhaps we will meet in the south pacific .

    🙂 <3 <3

  6. The best trick I learned while 10 years on my boat was a “pressure cooker” the lid locks down to avoid spills, cooks anything faster
and saves cooking fuel ………love you guys!
    Cheers!

  7. Elayna, I must apologize as I read that too fast and thought it said “made love with Elayna.” Seriously, how do you maintain your incredible beauty while at sea? Your natural beauty is very enchanting but there must be something you do to keep it going. Y’all’s videos are awesome! Please don’t stop!

  8. Thank you two for supplying such great sailing/cruising footage. Just to think that there is an amazing female chef without anything to work with and a demanding Bon vivant aboard. That’s rough seas.
Looking forward to your next post
    Paul, O it’s lunch time!

  9. Once again a great video especially the chance to see some of the other cruisers you met at the atolls. Long time ago on my first boat I was stranded with the ex along with a couple and we didn’t have food, drinks, smokes and just whiskey for almost a day and we thought we were going to waste away..it seemed like it though…actually we were aground and healing over 45 degrees for most of the time and it was not a pretty sight….we finally had some friends come rescue us with a pull off when the tide came up a bit and brought us some beer, smokes, and food which we consumed before we got back to sailing…..its tough but from that point I made sure we always had plenty of drinks, food and booze for any trip we went on.. always more than you need for the unexpected delays….I give you guys a lot of credit..you have gone further than I ever have or plan to go in the future….you are Great…keep up the videos and may God Bless you. Fair winds and calm seas….
